Outlook Web App

As Microsoft prepared to launch Office 365, Outlook Web App became one of the company's most strategically important productivity experiences. At the same time, Microsoft was introducing the Metro Design Language, creating an opportunity to redefine how enterprise productivity applications could feel across the web.

As the design leader for time management, people, and document collaboration experiences, I partnered closely with Engineering, Product Management, and User Research to shape key workflows serving enterprise, small business, and education customers across desktop, tablet, and emerging touch experiences.

The work helped establish many of the foundational interaction patterns that would influence the future evolution of Outlook on the web, while contributing to Microsoft's broader transition toward a modern, cloud-first productivity platform.

The concepts below represent a selection of early explorations that helped shape the next generation of Outlook Web App.
